My computer died yesterday: it fizzled out into a few random lines of color, shut down, was started up to the same lines of color, shut down, and then refused to start up. The first few Windows recovery options didn’t work, but today, working my way through them, one of them actually worked, and it recovered everything but my notes for Thursday’s two linguistics lectures. (Good thing my computer didn’t die a day earlier, when I was busy preparing for those.)

Public service announcement: if your computer’s not backed up, back it up right now.
