The Melbourne University Math & Statistics Society Puzzle Hunt started today. It ended fairly well a few days and many puzzles later for my team (mostly without my help, since the puzzles were released after midnight Budapest time), which translates as “Launching an elephant (from a tall skyscraper is a remarkably efficient way to make peanut butter.”

I ran a practice for the Hungarian IOL (Hungarian abbrevation NNyD) team. In two hours, with moderate hinting, they solved an average of one of the two hardest individual problems of IOL 2007 each, a good sign since almost everyone who did so got a medal.
