I just went to my formerly weekly research seminar for the first time in a month—one week it conflicted with a Fulbright trip; one week CEU was on holiday; and one week the professor had to cancel at the last minute. This is a pretty good metaphor for how my actual research has been going—not much time on it, and no progress. I’m still happy for my time in Hungary (for the math classes I’ve taken, the classes I taught, helping start the Hungarian Linguistics Olympiad, and putting off the next round of applications I’ll have to go through by a year), but I’m still hoping to at least lower my Erdooes number to 2 before I go.
