Would you believe that someone who explained Genghis Khan’s Yassa Code as the world’s first multilevel marketing scheme, didn’t believe in evolution until he had a revelation that he could explain the evolution of fruit by a market mechanism, and insists that if an alien colonization fleet were to come to Earth, Ricardo’s law of comparative advantage guarantees that it would make us humans better off is an economist?

I met that guy at Budapest’s first discussion meetup this evening for readers of Lesswrong. I hope more of their meetups will, as the site’s name (and purpose) suggest, make him a little less wrong, but I consider such failures of rationality (more commonly in the form of religion) exhausting to deal with, so I won’t be going back.
