Another problem solving seminar today, for which I cannibalized a handout I’d made for 9th and 10th graders at the Math Olympiad program. Given that that audience had been at the top of a selection exam using similar sorts of problems and this is for beginning problem solvers, I cut that handout in about half, and we got through a bit more than half of that half. Also, as was usual for me four years ago when I taught that class, I’d overestimated how much I could cover.
