It’s been snowing lightly almost continuously for the last two days. (Temperatures in the 250s*—whee!)

On a whim, I went for a walk along the Danube, remembering a story that the first bridge across it was built when ice made the river too dangerous for one of Hungary’s aristocrats to cross for his father’s funeral. There was a bit of ice floating downstream, but nothing like that.

Also, I’ve been keeping my flat’s heat off to save money, saying that I could always put on more layers if necessary, but I hadn’t had to actually do so until this cold snap.

*That’s about -15 C or 5 F, for those of you who base your fundamental units of temperature on the properties of one specific type of molecule at Earth’s average sea level atmospheric pressure.
