These are candles on a gravestone of/memorial to Hungarian WWII dead: while Halloween isn’t a Hungarian holiday, Hallowday itself apparently is; in particular, it’s a custom to put candles on peoples’ graves today. So I visited the graveyard (or, to translate literally, “grave garden”—and it is actually the second-nicest park I’ve been to in Pest—Pest is depressingly ungreen) and saw a few graves like the above, and many more with just one light.
