The vegetarian food at the restaurants that aren’t specifically designed for it here varies wildly in quality—the restaurants the Fulbright orientation took us to make a good sample.

The Citadella, in the fortress on Budapest’s highest hill, had fried and breaded cheese—edible, but bland and sort of plasticy. The Flamingo restaurant in Budapest and the Renaissance Restaurant in Vise’grad (which is in a castle, greeted us with trumpets and a crier, and appointed two of us king and queen) had great food, and Stex (also in Budapest) was somewhere in between.
